QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience. Reading Endorsement. Other factors for effective performance including the following: Clear credential as required by State law. Master's degree with academic subject matter major. Meet the definition of appropriately certified under the Every Student Succeed Act.
CLASS TITLE: TITLE 1 TEACHER - PRIVATE SCHOOLS
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide an educational program for pupils in grades K to 8; assist in other school programs as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Deliver student supplemental instruction as directed by the school and district consultation agreement
- Assess student academic achievement
- Evaluate student progress
- Provide assessment data to district three times per school year
- Provide monthly updates on student progress
- Provide monthly student attendance records
- Schedule students appropriately in conjunction with Priveate School administrators and parent
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrtive regulations and procedures of the school district
- Provide planned learning experiences in order to motivate pupils and best utilize the available time for instruction; identify and adjust instructional objectives in terms of student need using grade level standards and assessments
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and small group, as well as whole group, instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, emotional, social and learning problems

Create a classroom environment which is conducive for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers and which includes models of high standards and expectations for student work
- Select and requisition books and instructional supplies; maintain required inventory records
- Operate a computer and other standard office equipment
Depending on student need, services must be outside of core curriculum time and may include:
- Reading, writing, or math instruction or extra support
- Direct Instruction (additional to core classes)
- Instructional support for computer-assisted instruction
- Oversight of Title I tutors
- Plan family literacy events
- Early childhood programs
- For teachers - professional development activities
- For parents - parent involvement activities
OTHER DUTIES:
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required
- Perform related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction.
- Classroom procedures which promote appropriate student conduct and motivation for student learning.
- Child guidance principles and practices.
- Principles of training and providing work direction.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.
- Research methods and report writing techniques.
- First aid and CPR.
- Current trends and research concerning the growth and development of children.
ABILITY TO:
- Provide supplemental instructional assistance in reading, writing, and/or math
- Communicate effectivesly verbally and in writing
- Track and report data on student attendance and academic progress
- Maintain effective working relationships with other people
- Monitor student behavior
- Adapt instructional maaterials and strategies to accommodate the wide range of skills which exist in a classroom
- Apply current trends and practices in education
- Work on a team, especially one made up of office personnel, and troubleshooting end-user problems
- Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Depth of training in one or more areas of the elementary school curriculum.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Arizona Teaching Credential.
Meet the definition of highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind Act.
Valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency.
Reading Endorsement.
